Representatives of the Hellenic Daily News were present in London for the Princes Trust International Events. Started by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales in England due to the ongoing crisis of unemployment and lack of education to disadvantaged youth in his country. The Princes Trust helps these young individuals obtain the skills and support necessary to obtain gainful employment.

With the overwhelming success of the program a second entrepreneurial program was also created which will help these individuals create and run their own business. His Royal Highness Prince Pavlos the Crown Price of Greece has joined his cousin the Prince of Wales and since 2018 launched the
Program in Athens Greece to help the youth of Greece. Prince Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece spearheaded this along with the supporters below.
The attending guests of the Greek Diaspora were treated to a beautifully laid out set of events that were held between Wednesday February 13, 2019 through Saturday February 16, 2019.
The Events kicked off with an Invitation to St. James Palace (of Buckingham Palace) where the supporters had the opportunity to meet and converse with the Prince of Wales as well as Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and hear from 2 young Greek women Eirini Antonopoulou who went through the “get in-to program” and obtained employment from Vodafone, as well as Dimitra Gaitaneri who went through the “enterprise” program and is starting her own business – a kindergarten care center.
The following evening a reception supported by The Nicholas J. and Anna Bourias Foundation at the London Tower Bridge Observation Deck was held, where the guests experienced the breathtaking views of London on top of London Bridge. The guests heard from speakers such as His Royal Highness Prince Pavlos of Greece while a few of the brave guests stood on a transparent floor showcasing the road and river below.
Next was an elegant black tie event that was supported by The Hellenic Initiative and graciously hosted by Dorothy and Spiro Latsis at their home, Bridgewater House where the incredible award winning wines of Chateau Margaux were donated by Corinne Mentzelopoulos for the Gala.
Finally the four day event came to a close with the London Premier of The Cliffs of Freedom, a powerful film on the Greek War of Independence of 1821 that was made possible by the support of Marianne and Dean Metropoulos and family.
The film not only highlighted the events that lead to the start of the Greek War of Independence but also encased within it a love story which had audience members both conflicted and emotional by the end of the movie. It is truly a film that should be seem by all once it launches in March and in our opinion should be a contender for many awards even an Oscar.
Prince Pavlos of Greece and the Princes Trust should be commended on their hard work in helping to change lives in Greece and around the world with their program. On a final note, I believe that without the tireless efforts of Father Alex Karloutsos and his wife Presbytera Xanthi Karloutsos bringing together the
Greeks of the Diaspora, to help support this wonderful program none of this would have been possible.
